The Wedding Girls

Bethnal Green, London, 1936. I love books that are set in the past and having read Kate Thompson's first book, Secrets of the Singer Girls, I was really excited to read her latest offering, The Wedding Girls.

Back in 1936, London's East end was less than glamorous but that is something Kitty was changing one beautiful wedding dress at a time. Yet in the back of her mind she was thinking about how to escape the East end.  Next door to Kitty's was Herbie's photography studio where Stella and Winnie worked. The 3 women were best friends and were all hoping for the same thing, love and happiness.

As was always the way back then, the community always banded together in time of need, something you do not see very often, if at all now.  The war was not far away and it would bring a massive test of faith and courage to Bethnal Green.

I loved the characters in this Book, they were lovable and strong. Certainly women you would be proud to have in your life.  What I love too is the sense of community, always there for each other no matter what. If only it could be like that now.

Without giving away the story too much, I don't do spoilers, I will end my review here.

Kate Thompson is an amazing author, her books really give you a warm feeling and her characters are brought to life in the perfect way.  Women we can aspire too.

You can pre-order The Wedding Girls over on Amazon for £5.24 on paperback and £4.68 on Kindle.  I highly recommend this book as a must read.
