Lotus of Siam

Lotus of Siam

953 E. Sahara Ave Ste A5

Las Vegas, Nevada 89104

It’s been years since Charles and I last went to Vegas. Vegas isn’t one of our top places to visit; we just don’t have a a strong desire to visit (plus we went with it was 100 degrees and that’s just too hot). But to be fair, Las Vegas has some pretty yummy places to eat so Charles, his family, and I stopped by to eat lunch before heading to Utah.

After eyeing over various options, we opted to try Lotus of Siam after reading over the rave reviews on Yelp. Here’s what we ordered:

Garlic Prawns

I highly recommend this dish despite the hefty price tag. According to Yelp, nearly everyone recommended this dish and so we decided to order it and I was not disappointed. The Garlic Prawns reminded me of garlic chicken in Hawaii which is a super delicious plate lunch. I’ve never tried shrimp shells before BUT when cooked right, it’s really delicious! It was nice and crispy and tasted so good with white rice (who doesn’t like white rice though?).

Nam Kao Tod

Charles ordered this dish. It’s crispy rice with pork, cilantro, green onions, dried chillies, ginger, peanuts, and lime juice. Pretty much ingredients that I love. It was an interesting dish and very tasty (but the garlic prawns are still my favorite). This was my first time having this dish and I would get it again.

Nua Nam Tok and Nua Sao Renu

I love anything crying tiger and/or Nam Tok but I’m very picky when it comes to my nam tok. This was an okay nam tok and I’d probably skip it next time around (and just get the garlic prawns). If you’re not familiar with nam tok, it’s a spicy beef salad with cilantro, lime, red onions, and steak. The nua sao renu was not my favorite. Charles’ brother ordered it and his family seemed to like it but the flavor was just not something I like. It’s beef in a tamarind sauce. If you like tamarind, definitely try it! Otherwise, I’d skip it.

As you can see, I absolutely LOVED the garlic prawns and I’m okay with getting that with rice. We came during lunch and the wait wasn’t long at all. They have a huge restaurant and it wasn’t full but it was picking up around lunch. I hear the line is long during dinner so keep that in mind!

Hope you guys had a great week! Yesterday night was insane here in Honolulu. We were driving through floods and the roads were closed because of Tropical Storm Darby that hit the island. Never experienced something like that before but the sun has been shining today and I’m excited for a drier week! Happy Monday!
