Ah, coffee. Or as we like to call it: lifeblood/elixir of the gods/oxygen.
Not much beats a perfectly brewed cup of dark roast, whether iced or hot- and its foothold in our culture is only growing. Younger millennials and Generation Z have grown up hanging out at Starbucks instead of at the mall or the park; coffee and coffee drinking have become as much as part of our identity as hashtags and internet memes.
Coffee isn’t just for drinking, either. Coffee as an ingredient is a growing food trend and for good reason; it can be an amazing addition to both sweet and savoury dishes. To celebrate this delicious idea, we’ve rounded up six coffee recipes worth staying up for!
1.) COFFEE ICE CREAM
First up, a classic coffee ice cream. This one doesn’t require an ice cream maker and can be whipped up just a few hours before you need it. The recipe is British, but you can use whipping cream in place of double cream with the same result.
2.) COFFEE-RUBBED TENDERLOIN
Coffee is an amazing compliment to savoury, smoky flavours and is surprisingly delicious in dry rubs for meat. This coffee-rubbed pork tenderloin is a simple recipe with beautiful results.
3.) COFFEE BBQ SAUCE
By the same logic, coffee makes a delicious addition to a sweet and smoky barbeque sauce!
4.) Espresso Chocolate Chip COOKIES
For a sweet fix, try a twist on the classic with these espresso chocolate chip cookies
5.) IRISH STEW
Coffee and Guinness pair their dark and bold tastes together in this take on an Irish beef stew
6.) COFFEE COCKTAIL
This scrumptious looking cocktail is made of bourbon and coffee, then topped with a toasted marshmallow… is it wrong to want one of these with breakfast?
