Thinking Out Cloud at Mount Ulap

“Wherever you go, be the soul of that place…” - Rumi

I always tell my friends that Rumi must be meant to be born ahead of us and figure everything out so we don't have to find words for our life realizations.

And it’s true. We were welcomed by dozens of Mountain climbers, travel enthusiasts, and a bunch of broken hearts who want to shout their lungs out in the sea of clouds. The vehicles are entering and leaving the area like ants heading on opposite directions. And the climbers, full of hopes and excitements, were stranded in the legion of adventure hopefuls waiting for their turn in the registration area.

We arrived at 9 am, and we were able to register at 2 pm – that’s how costly purpose finding is.  So we burned the 5 hours chitchatting about each other’s lives, talking about what we could have been doing had we not held ourselves stranded in this group of hopefuls, again in search of purpose (damn those self-help books).

But here's another thing. When you set yourself up for things that are outside your control, you begin to see things in another perspective. And that's why I came up with 10 #truthbombs about mountain climbing.

10 #TruthBombs About Mountain Climbing

The first #truthbomb is: you don’t and won’t find purpose in mountains.

Whoever wrote that self-help book that tricked thousands to find purpose in mountains must be imprisoned. (I’m just kidding, I’m sure nobody wrote one, and if ever there is, oh my!)

The second truthbomb is: the mountain is your unexpected runway.

The third #truthbomb is: food sharing is the ultimate test of friendship. Everything hot will become tasty amidst coldness.

The fourth #truthbomb is: you will subconsciously find a new crush in your trip.

The fifth #truthbomb is: 90% of the climbers are there for the pictures, 10% are there for the experience.

The sixth #truthbomb is: you will sometimes think that this trek will not end forever. And you will start asking why you went there in the 1st place.

The seventh #truthbomb is: once you reach the summit, you’re pretty much convinced that this is worth it...

UNTIIIIILLLLLL…. It finally dawns into you that you still have to walk your way down from that summit. Why don’t we have ziplines from mountain summits to the base camp anyway?

The eight #truthbomb is: you will gain long-time friends after this trip.

The ninth #truthbomb is: you will perpetually thank the inventor of powerbank, without having the nuts to know who he is. Who is he by the way?

Fun fact: Powerbank is invented by…

P.S. The only reason why I feel like writing whatever is on top of my head is because I know most people only read the introduction and conclusion of an article.

-->
P.S.S. The reason why I wrote the P.S. above is because I really want you to read the entire article. It’s not easy to come up with 10 #truthbombs about mountain climbing you know, more so justify them one by one.
