So a few months back I was looking at some home receivers for listening to my record and cassette library.  I was of course looking at the top of line stuff out of curiosity and came across this common feature on all the newest models.  Apple airplay compatible.  I did a little research and realized that Apple has blue toothed their iTunes across wireless modem networks to allow you to send, play, and control your handheld devices to your home receiver.  I am a stereo junkie of sorts and am hear to tell you, this is exciting news.   Now of course these home receivers were a little more than I want to pay for new, but I don't mind waiting a few years and picking up a slightly used on down the road.

Apple Airplay allows wireless streaming of audio, video, and photos, together with related metadata between devices. Originally only implemented in Apple's software and devices, Apple has licensed the audio-streaming portion of the Air Play protocol stack as a third-party software component technology to manufacturer partners for them to use in their products in order to be compatible with Apple's i Devices.

Airplay actually works on many platforms and many different directions.
