We often joke around about how we wish that Christmas was all year round. We also always seem surprised how much earlier christmas things show up in stores each year. This year in my area they started putting Christmas things out in stores the day after Halloween.
Now clearly stores put these things out early for money, and marketing. The question though is how early is to early. Would Christmas items be a good seller if they where sold all year? Or would they eventually just become the cereal boxes you walk past in the isle everytime your in the grocery store.
I think this would be an interesting marketing experiment to try. But I believe such a thing would result in a rapid surge of sales for one or two years followed by a slow decline in sales until it becomes pointless to even bother marketting such things as Christmas items.
