A Not So Secret Find in Bangkok: Cake & Waffles Lunch at Secret Garden Thai Cuisine Bakery

Huh, Cake and waffles for lunch? Why not =)

I discovered this place online while looking for the nearest restaurants to our hotel and one day while taking a stroll on Sathorn Avenue, we discovered this accidentally. I was like -- ‘This is the restaurant bakery I read about online!’ So I came up with the idea that we will have lunch here on our last day in the city. It is just right next door to our hotel. My mom cannot walk that far so this is a great answer to her mobility challenge.

We were quite happy to have come here for lunch because their cakes were adorable! I do not have a sweet tooth but I know how to appreciate cakes and pastries that are made well, and I can say that the taste and quality here are top of the line quality.

Since I do not like to eat too much of the sugary stuff, I played safe and ordered the matcha crepe layered cake. This was quite delicious, and indeed not that sweet. My mom however ordered the opposite, the dark chocolate cake, while my dad went all out with Belgian waffles, vanilla ice cream and bananas which were topped with whipped cream, chocolate sauce and cherry. We all paired it with iced coffee.

Alas, I am proven wrong this time. The best cake was the chocolate one.

This restaurant bakery shop also served traditional Thai dishes, but we had a very late breakfast so the cakes were good as late lunch for us already. Something like our dessert for brunch in this case =)

Another thing that we liked about the place is the colour scheme and feminine interior design. It is so dainty, elegant and very pleasing to the eye and senses. The restaurant bakery is like a refuge, an oasis, a secret garden in the busy and hot business jungle of Bangkok. It has a very relaxing and quiet atmosphere. On that note, it is a great venue for small or 1-to-1 business meetings.

And because we enjoyed the cakes, we bought a few more to bring to sisterJ and Myrhh in Singapore. We made sure to hand carry the cakes in the plane so they will arrive safe and fresh.

The Secret Garden Thai Cuisine Bakery is indeed a secret garden in the middle of busy Sathorn.

The tall building beside the restaurant and bakery is our hotel, Urbana Sathorn Hotel.
