Decoding the Zoya - Farhan Code (Or so I think!)

For non-bollywood and non-Indian readers of this post, please note :

DDD : Dil Dhadakne Do (Let Your Heart Beat /Sing)
ZNMD : Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara (You Only Live Once)

I have been thinking to write this post for a very long time now....

Obviously, smitten by the talent the Akhtar siblings have showcased in the last decade. I'm sure every Indian who is aware; is.

However, this post is not exactly written with that sentiment. I feel like I have noticed a pattern (sort of) in which they name their movies or have a common thread running through their movies.

Here goes my so-called analysis :

1) Remember the scene where Hrithik Rohsan has to climb a cliff in Lakshya? It also had a particular guitar riff in the background which 5 years down the line became the defining riff of the title song for ROCK ON.

2) Let's come to ROCK ON. The self screaming title track was a window into what we should expect next. Enter ZNMD two years down the line. I doubt if it was just a mere coincidence that the title song of ROCK ON had the lyrics "Zindagi Milegi Na Dobara" !!  (OK, now don't hang me if "Milegi" and "Na" are interchanged in their order of usage :P )

3) The opening song of ZNMD , is titled " Dil Dhadakne Do" !! Need I say more?? :)

4) This one is a no-brainer. The common thread or theme in their movies is always about living one's life at own terms, dancing to your own music rather than living up to notions / expectations of others. Yup, I have a degree in "stating the obvious".

Now, I am just wondering what could be their next? Not trying to say they've become predictable but I just love the feeling of anticipation.

And whilst I watched DDD last weekend, the only thing that came to my mind is, their next movie probably could be titled as "Log Kya Kahenge" (Yes that phrase is present and screaming loud in the title track of the movie!!)

Humour me Farhan & Zoya.
