As much as I love rich, decadent desserts like these salted caramel bars, this to-die-for chocolate chip brownie cheesecake, and this popular peach cobbler dump cake (don’t forget the ice cream!), I’m learning there’s something to be said for healthy dessert recipes like these healthy peanut butter brownies with dark chocolate chips.

I am all for finding ways to work Purely Inspired Powdered Peanut Butter into recipes. Not only is it one of my favorite powdered peanut butters but any time I can double up on peanut butter flavor is fine by me!

The original recipe for these Peanut Butter Brownies wasn’t as healthy since it used regular granulated sugar. But I tried it with Splenda and while they weren’t melt-in-your-mouth moist, the texture was way doable.

In fact, they had more the texture of peanut butter chocolate chip bar cookies… and I’m way okay with that. I love bar cookies!

If you want to feel better about eating treats, this Healthy Peanut Butter brownie recipe is a great option. It’s right up there with double chocolate peanut butter protein cookies, healthy no-bake peanut butter oatmeal protein cookies, healthy chocolate caramel peanut butter smoothie.

Can you tell I love chocolate and peanut butter SO much?!

If you want to make this recipe for peanut butter brownies gluten-free, make sure you use a gluten-free flour. I’m not sure how it might change the texture, so if you try it, let me know!

Honestly, I couldn’t stop eating these healthy peanut butter brownies with dark chocolate chips. True, I’m a sucker for that divine chocolate-peanut butter combination, but they were also way yummier than I thought they might be. You never know with “healthy” versions of typically tasty treats!

I like to make sure I cut out extra sugar (and high-fructose corn syrup) wherever I can, so I use natural peanut butter with an ingredients list that is either just peanuts or peanuts and salt. Justin’s Classic Peanut Butter is a great options as is Simple Truth Organic No-Stir Creamy Peanut Butter.

Let’s be honest, the stirring thing is highly overrated.

I’m thinking next time I make a batch of healthy peanut butter brownies, I might try milk chocolate chips or maybe even a combination of peanut butter and semisweet chocolate chips. Mmm…
