Kids Love This Pinecone Ornaments Christmas Craft

Do you have kids that love getting crafty with you? They'll have a blast making these kid-friendly Mini Pinecone Ornaments. They look cute on the tree too!

My girls love getting crafty with me. They must have inherited the same gene that I have. I don't know why, but we get a whole lot more crafty during the fall and winter months, probably because it's too cold to spend much time outside.

We moved into a new house over the summer and we have a few giant pine trees growing in our yard. That means we have hundreds of pine cones strewn throughout our front and back yards.

My husband and daughters have neatly arranged so many of them around the yard, but they are still falling from the trees every day. So I started thinking about what crafts we can use the pine cones in.

So we grabbed some of our crafting supplies and sat down. These kid-friendly Mini Pinecone Ornaments are one of the fun ideas we came up with.

If you don't have local access to pine cones, you can purchase some online that are specifically for crafting. The bonus is you won't end up with a ton of sap on your hands like we get from fresh pine cones.

Next time you want to get crafty with the kids and make some cute and easy Christmas ornaments, give this Mini Pinecone Ornaments craft a try!

Kid-Friendly Mini Pinecone Ornaments Tutorial

Supplies

  • Pine cone, medium to large
  • Mini pom poms
  • Twine or ribbon
  • Hot glue gun and hot glue sticks

Directions

  1. Begin by deciding which poms you wish to use. An assortment of holiday colors looks great, or you can go for any color combo you wish.
  2. Add a dab of hot glue to the poms and place them inside the pine cone creases. Hold them in place until secure.
  3. Continue adding the poms one at a time until the pine cone is full. Allow the poms to dry well before proceeding.
  4. Cut a length of twine and curl it into a loop. Add some hot glue to the ends and press them into the top of the pine cone. Allow to dry. This will be the hanger on your pine cone ornament.
  5. Once everything is dry, your pine cone is ready for hanging. Add it to your tree for a festive but natural touch.
