Project Discover Week #18

Before I write a single word I just want to say how AWESOME Wonder Woman is! Go see it. And if you can see it Dolby Atmos – do it! It was everything my inner little girl who worshiped this female super hero wanted it to be.

Now onto this week.

On Monday, just after 4:30 a.m. we jumped into the Jeep and headed to the San Francisco Bay Area for a visit.  Our plan was to drive 9 hours to Sacramento where we would have dinner with friends and then continue onto San Francisco to catch up with more friends and former colleagues.

The drive down was uneventful except for the fact that we had to stop every 50 miles in order for me to go pee! If my dad had been the one driving I would have been kicked out of the car!

Since we’ve started exercising and doing the Atkins diet, I’ve also been drinking a ton of water, which means a ton of going to the bathroom.  And now that I am drinking so much water, when I don’t drink, I feel totally dehydrated. It may be psychological but that’s how I feel. Anyway, I drank three bottles of water between breakfast and lunch and the result was a visit to practically each and every rest stop between Portland and Sacramento!

But we made it!  It was almost 100 degrees in Sacramento, thankfully we were only there for less than 24 hours. Tuesday we drove to San Francisco and headed our separate ways.  Walking around the financial district and the embarcadero was great, seeing friends after a year or more was awesome.

What was not great was when I had to get on Bart to go to our hotel.  And On Wednesday or Thursday when I took BART back to the city.  For the most part, once I was in the city I walked, which allowed me to walk close to 19 miles in three days.  But on Thursday morning I was running late so after walking down Market from the Embaracadero to Powell, I hopped on BART to take one stop to Civic Center, and yuck! I won’t even go into detail as to what I saw at that one station.

Being in that station reminded me how gross the city can be. Thankfully the rest of my trip was far more enjoyable.

In terms of eating, I was really good.  I ate a lot of salads.  I did have some of my beloved dimsum on Tuesday which I am considering as my cheat day.  I had 8 dumplings, considering I could put away a dozen or more in a sitting, I think I did well!

I lost one pound, same as last week, putting my total weight loss to 18 pounds.  I hope to get back to a two-pound loss this week with more exercise and a regular eating routine.

That’s been my week, what have you been up to?

Project Discover is my weekly series inspired by my 2017 word of the year, discover. Besides looking for a job I am focused on three things:

  1. Discover(ing) Portland
