I’ve made myself a cheeky little DIY herb garden and over the last few weeks, I’ve been inspired to cook more using the herbs I’m growing which in turn has meant more home cooked yummy meals for us! Today, I’m sharing how I made my little DIY herb garden in case you want to make one too…
This little project was totally inspired by Pinterest because over the last few months, I’ve seen so many different ways to make a DIY Herb Garden – all of which would look perfect in the back garden I have planned for this Summer.
I had planned to upcycle a full pallet and even got as far as asking on Facebook if anyone had a pallet I could have. I got about four offers of a free pallet so I was super excited about my little project but then one of my lovely friends told her husband what I was after and he used a few bits of wood and some spare paint he had lying around to make me this…
How lovely is that and in retrospect, smaller was definitely the way forward with my record in the garden! He says it cost him nothing to make as he had a few bits of wood lying around but that if you wanted to make one yourself it’s super simple and you could use the wood from a pallet to make it.
I’ll show you it from a few angles so you can see how he made it and yes, I know it would have been more helpful if I’d took the photo before I filled it up with plants but I was just too excited to wait.
It’s nothing flash as you can see – it’s literally just a few bits of wood screwed together but I love it! I bought the cutest little pots from Amazon to hang on it as I felt like I needed a little more space and then I popped to the garden centre near me to stock up on herbs to fill it.
This has really inspired me and I’m trying to talk Mr Frugal into letting me have a little mini greenhouse in the back garden and I feel like he’s wavering so you never know, I might be one of those frugal bloggers who grows her own veg soon!
I did set up a DIY herb garden board on Pinterest to share all the great ideas I’ve seen recently. You can have a quick browse through them here if you want some inspiration…
The mint and basil are missing as they’re still on my kitchen windowsill as I’ve used them to make a batch of tomato sauce and some pea and mint soup.
