Super Cute Unicorn Bath Salts DIY….

If you’re a unicorn fan then you’re going to love this cute little unicorn bath salts DIY but even if you’re not a lover of all things unicorn, stick around because you can use any colours you like to make these!

I didn’t set out to make unicorn Bath Salts at all this morning!  In fact, I was actually having a quick tidy out of my baking cupboard when I came across the colours I used a while ago to make this amazing no-bake unicorn fudge….

I’m easily distracted so I got them out to try and think of something else I could make with the colours I’d bought and my eyes settled on the Bath salts I bought last night for Mr Frugal.  An idea struck me and I went with it even though I was pretty sure that the last thing he was going to want to do when he came in from 5-aside football was a nice long relaxing soak in a bath filled with unicorn bath salts!

It took me about five minutes to make when I got going and I think they look great – they’d make an amazing gift for any unicorn fan or even just anyone who like pretty colours!

  • I had some cheap paper bowls leftover from Miss Frugal’s Birthday party so I just spooned about a tablespoon of the bath salts into each bowl to start with.
  • I then added a few drops of the gel food colouring that I was using up into each bowl and gave it a good mix.   Some of the colours mixed easier than others, the purple one needed to be almost squished into the bath salts before it really started to mix.
  • Once the colour had mixed into the first spoonful of bath salts I added another spoonful and mixed again so the colour got lighter each time.  I ended up adding about 4 tablespoons to most of the colours because that’s how much I thought it would take to fill the bottle I’d chosen.  I added a bit more to the yellow though to dilute the colour as it was very bright!  I also made up a teeny bit more of the pink at the end so I had enough to fill the bottle.
  • I spooned it into the bottle in layers and then added a label to it and voila, amazing unicorn bath salts.

It’s great with the super adorable sleep mask that I picked up in Primark for £2 (it might have even been £1) and together they make a lovely gift.  Similar unicorn sleep masks are here on Amazon although I do think mine is cuter!

The bath salts I used were some fragrance-free Epsom bath salts and if they’d been for me rather than Mr Frugal I would have added a drop or two of lavender essential oils to each colour mix so it built up to a lovely lavender scented soak.
