Do you and your partner ‘do’ Valentines Day?
We don’t and haven’t for the last few years to be honest – not because we can’t be bothered or because we don’t Love each other but because we don’t think that a card and a bunch of flowers on one day of the year really means as much as showing each other how much we care all year round.
Don’t get me wrong, I love a bunch of flowers every now and again but honestly, I’d rather spend the money on something else and so would Mr Frugal. If you add it up, the cost of a card each, a small but nice bunch of flowers and a box of chocolates would cost at least £15 which I get isn’t a lot but it doesn’t really show me that he loves me.
I’d much rather spend the money on a lovely meal (which is what we’re doing) and have the little gestures all year round – the things like always keeping my car topped up with petrol because he knows I hate putting it in and having a cup of tea ready for me when I come in from work on a late shift. He’s even been known to put my coat on the radiator for me on a morning so it’s warm when I put it on to go out into the cold morning!
Saying all of that though, I do like a good thoughtful gesture on any day of the year so tomorrow, I’ll be printing out one of the cute but very Beautiful Love Quotes below and giving it to him – I just can’t decide which one….
