Can you remember me telling you all about a fab little app called Zeek last year?
Basically, Zeek is a fab little site where you can buy and sell Gift Vouchers for discounted amounts. Personally, I’ve never used it to sell gift vouchers as I’m always happy to spend any that I get but since I first told you about the app, I’ve used it frequently to buy vouchers. In fact, I’d go so far as to say it’s the app on my phone that’s saved me the most money since I installed it.
When you open the app you have the option to search the vouchers available by brand and you can even filter it down to online and in store so whenever I’m about to buy something online, I pop on here and see of there’s a discounted voucher available for the company I’m about to use.
Here’s an example:
Master Frugal has asked me for a particular football shirt for Christmas and the cheapest place I can find it is Sports Direct. I know that I can use TopCashBack.com to get 4.4% cashback on my purchase and there’s also a code out there for Free Delivery that I can use to save me there. I can save even more by popping on to Zeek and buying a £40 Sports Direct voucher for £38. I pay for the voucher with the card I have saved in Zeek and then I get a voucher code delivered to my Zeek wallet instantly. It takes less than a minute and I then just use that e-voucher code to pay for the shirt.
Because it’s a gift voucher you can combine it with any other discount vouchers or cashback offers like I have so I managed to get a £40 shirt for £36.24 including delivery. You just need to get out of the mindset of thinking that it’s not a moneysaving item because it’s a gift card and you’ll start saving a fortune.
Here’s another idea, what about buying a gift voucher each week for your weekly shopping – if you bought a £50 gift voucher for £47 then that’s £3 a week saved which is £156 a year? What an easy way to save money!
Since I’m such a an of the app, the lovely people at Zeek asked me to hold a party and offered to credit my Zeek account as long as I use only vouchers bought from Zeek to pay for it which sounded like a lovely idea. Unfortunately though, I wasn’t really well enough to have a party so we changed the plan a little and had a different kind of party. We had a everyone get out of the house and let Mam sleep kind of party!
Mr Frugal took the kids out for an afternoon of fun while I stayed at home and relaxed which made me feel great because (a) I was relaxing in bed and (b) I didn’t have to feel guilty that the kids weren’t having fun while I was poorly. We planned a fun afternoon for them all and bought vouchers to pay for it all.
They started off at Starbucks which is a huge treat for them, especially Miss Frugal who seems obsessed with all things American at the moment. We splashed out and bought a £20 voucher for £18 so that the kids could have a cake as well because on the rare occasions I take them in, I always say no to cake as it’s expensive enough as it is!
They then moved on to the pictures where we’d bought a £25 gift card for £23 to pay for them to get in and an extra £15 voucher which we paid £14 for so they could buy some drinks and slushies.
The last stop on their fun afternoon was for tea at Pizza Express where they sent me this lovely little photo taken by Master Frugal. We bought £40 vouchers for £36 so they had enough for a main meal and drinks although I did hear a rumour that they may have splashed out and bought a pudding each.
Thank you Zeek for a lovely afternoon!
