Why I Stopped Having Botox

My Skin

I say Stopped having. It’s been almost seven months since my last  Botox treatment. Generally I have it every 3-4 months. This time, I just didn’t go back. I’m not sure whether it’s because of the fact that I’m now using Retin A and my skin is loads better anyway, or because I just don’t really care anymore.

I’ve only ever had it injected into my forehead. I’ve never been worried about the lines around my eyes.

I must admit that my skin is better than it has been in years. I used to think that skin care was a waste of time because it was all in the marketing and nothing really worked, because you couldn’t apply a topical cream and expect to look any better than you did before you started. I thought it was all nonsense.

I have come to realise that skin care does make a difference.  I do also think that the way you feel about yourself has a lot to do with it too. I am happy in myself, so I feel and look better. In my mind at least!

I can’t categorically say that I will never have botox again. I am known for my reactive nature. If I wake up one morning and think Crap, I look rubbish. Then I am very likely to change my mind. But for now, I am happy not being injected. Mostly because it freaking hurts! Botox Mark, asks; What’s up with you? it isn’t that bad, When I’m asking if he’s nearly done yet and saying it hurts way more than the time before. Then I have a permanent headache for at least two weeks afterwards. You’ve got to really want it to go through that. I do have a very low tolerance when it comes to pain I must point out.

So for now I am injectable free. I’m always being told I look young and last week one lady seemed actually freaked out when she asked my age.  It was nice to think that it was the real me she was seeing and still thinking that.
