The Medical and Dental Consultants Association of Nigeria (MDCAN) in Ondo State yesterday suspended its four weeks strike and ordered its members to resume work today.
Doctors embarked on an industrial action two weeks to the end of the tenure of former Governor Olusegun Mimiko.
According to them, they decided to end their strike following the commitment of Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu to clear their six-month salary arrears latest by June 30.
MDCAN Chairman Dr. AdeniyI Aderoba said: “Our members are going through the toughest of times as a result of unpaid accumulated arrears.
“That the suffering masses are at the receiving end of the withdrawal of services by our members.
“We hereby came to the conclusion that the withdrawal of services should be suspended.
“We took this decision holding you in high esteem on your honour and with the assurances that we are fully committed to giving the state our best services.”
