The holiday season always reminds me to be more altruistic and reflect on how to give back to my community. Today I invite you to do the same. Let Tuesdays be a reflection of your giving. Giving Tuesday, is a day dedicated to giving – highlighting why it’s important, the benefits of giving and raising awareness about ways we can give to others.
Did you know most people are happier giving than receiving? Both ancient philosophy and modern science support the idea that giving leads to happiness. Saint Francis of Assisi once said, “For it is in giving that we receive.”

We live busy lives and barely have time for ourselves – I get it! Giving back may not be high on your agenda, and some are confused as to what cause is meaningful to them. If you are contemplating how to give back but don’t have a particular direction, do this little exercise.
Ask yourself, “What issues am I passionate about?” “What means the most to me?” Whether it’s focusing on helping kids, the climate, animals or poverty, the possibilities are endless.
Remember, giving is not about the price tag. It can be something as simple as buying coffee for the person behind you in line or smiling at a stranger on the street. If you give from a place of thoughtfulness and kindness, that’s what counts.
How will you give this year?
