Sometimes it does get unbearable. Repeated hours of tuning my ears to the constant mumbling of medical jargon definitely gets on my nerves. Unnecessary bouts of headache, unexplained laziness and hilariously random excuses to stay back in hostel soon follow.
But ever so beautifully the course of the year is interspersed with a plethora of events that provide us with the bliss of taking a day or two off.
Yes we do take a day off. And yes like anybody else we tend to de-stress.
One such event is when the oldies come back. Oops! That is a bit rude but one must state the facts as it is.
The alumni Reunion is a weekend that we look forward to. Not all of us. Some definitely miss the classes and hate the fact that they can't study in peace. To the rest, well, it's a pleasurable break from the monotony.
Over two days we get to listen to all the crazy things they had embarked on during their time in College only made colourful with the pictures they put up. I really can't find a term that would define what I feel when I get to see how my professors looked ages ago. Perhaps it's the only time you can laugh at them and they would laugh back.
They even come to the hostels for lunch and talk to us. It's always worth listening to all those tales which often begins the same way, " You know in my time...."
Apart from the fact this event helps us get away from what depresses us there is another aspect which makes it all the more special.
It's that magical feeling of nostalgia and zeal when you realise how swifty time has enchanted us that we realise how in no time we would be there as alumni only to be referred to as the ' oldies'
Every year most of us feel the same. And we perhaps make that silent promise to ourselves; to make the best out of the time left in college, to make each moment count.
