Hey everyone, it’s Whatever Wednesdays. I forgot to write a post on Monday, and I’m truly sorry about that. I’ll explain why in a second. Today we’re going to do some Random Musings in the New year #illumedati.

Random Musings in the New Year

So Monday was New Year’s Day and I forgot to write a post. Let me explain:

My family and I went out to the mall on New Year’s Day because my daughter (vietaliana), wanted to go have “a feast” for New Year’s Day. I’m not really sure where she got the idea of a “feast” from, maybe from one of the movies we have. Anyways, we went to the mall and ended up eating at Macaroni Grill because she really likes their Angel Hair Pasta and my son Lucas really likes their Meatballs. Also, their free bread is really good too, it holds a place close to my heart next to Olive Garden bread. My wife always gets the Mama’s Trio and my in-laws always get the Eggplant Parmigiana. Usually I get the Chicken Marsala, but the catch of the day was Ahi, so I went with a medium rare seared Ahi on some orzos.

All in all, the early lunch was pretty good. We walked around the mall a bit and of course looked at the Disney store and the Lego Store. We didn’t buy anything at the Disney store, but we get some from the LEGO store (more on that later).

Gelato

My wife and daughter really love the gelato at the mall. The mall actually has two different gelato places, but in their opinions, one is significantly better than the other. I’m not a gelato connoisseur so I can’t tell the difference. So we went over to the “good one” which my daughter (and wife) had been looking forward to. My daughter always gets the “birthday cake” flavor and my wife always gets “mint chocolate chip”. So I’m sitting outside with my son Lucas who is running around like a crazy person with his belly full of meatballs. The rest of the family is inside the gelato place, and I turn around to see my wife holding my daughter who is crying.

So what happened?

Their shipment normally comes on Mondays, but it didn’t come because it was New Year’s. That means there was no birthday cake flavor available. It’s tough being a 4 year old and looking forward to something, only to be disappointed. So she broke down and started crying. Poor little monkey. She didn’t want any other flavor, just birthday cake. Also, they didn’t have mint chocolate chip either, so my wife didn’t get anything either. My in-laws both got pistachio which they said was good, but not great.

Eventually, she was able to calm down and try a few other flavors and then decided to get Red Velvet. However, it was basically a poor substitute for birthday cake.

Home

So now we get home in the early afternoon.

As I mentioned above, we bought something at the LEGO store. It was something that just came out December 26, 2017, and as far as I know, was only available at the LEGO Store.

It’s LEGO Disney Princess – Cinderella’s Dream Castle 41154

Right now I think LEGO still has exclusivity, but I think you’ll be able to buy it from Amazon/Walmart etc sometime later this month. The current prices on Amazon are inflated from people trying to resell them online. However, the MSRP is $69.99, so please don’t pay more than that. If you really want one right away then you can just go to your local LEGO Store or buy it from the official LEGO Store link.

So we spent most of the afternoon putting that together. The build itself wasn’t too difficult, and Kylie was able to do most of it herself with some guidance from me. However, because it’s modular, when building it some of the supports aren’t very strong. A few times when trying to snap some pieces in, the whole thing broke apart. I would recommend assembling it on a hard surface (not carpet, like we did). We eventually used the backside of her chalkboard as a hard surface and that worked a lot better.

This second video,  “vietaliana plays” video is very random. I just turned on the camera and let her do whatever she wanted. You’ll hear her sing and make the characters talk to each other, and basically just be a kid playing with a new toy. She says she likes doing these kinds of videos too, so I’m going to try to add a “vietaliana plays” segment to her channel.

So yea, by the time I was done with building the castle and doing the video and all this stuff, it was already late in the day. It was already midnight on the East Coast by the time I finished, so I figured it was already too late to do a New Year’s post.

In other news, I’ve already broken a “New Year’s Resolution”:
