12 Places In Your House That You Always Forget To Clean

12 Places In Your House That You Always Forget To Clean

You finally finished cleaning your house and you’re just relaxing on the couch, then suddenly you realize the little spot in the corner that’s still dirty or the wall has dirt all over it and looks completely a mess, maybe even Dust is flying in the air even after you dusted. Why? Because sometimes we all have those 12 certain places that you just always completely forget about cleaning and then your house isn’t 100% clean and you aren’t 100% satisfied.

See I know this feeling, you just kicked butt for 1-2 hours scrubbing your house to make sure it’s clean. From dusting, dishes, laundry, sweeping, mopping, and then boom there’s more dirt! Erghhh…. IT’S NEVER ENDING! Trust me, I know the frustration. Which is exactly why I’m writing this for you. If you’re tired of sitting down and finding more things to clean up after you just worked your butt off to clean the entire house, this post is for you. It’s time to sit down and actually be 100% satisfied with your house and all of the cleaning you just finished!

1. The cabinets.

Now you might be saying, “Oh no I don’t need to clean those, they don’t get dirty.” Trust me when I say, they need to be cleaned just as bad. Not only can dust collect on them and stick to them just as well as a table and knick-knacks, they also get fingerprints (even tiny ones), grease, food, dirt, and even if your pet likes to follow you around and rub all over them to “love” on them just like my fiance’s cat loves to do then pet hair can stick to them just as well. Do you really want all of that gunk all over the cabinets that you use and touch daily? That holds the things you eat on and cook with? No way! So make sure you wipe them down really well. My favorite thing to do is just to grab a microfiber Cloth that is damp (not completely wet just damp), and some Mrs. Meyers (my favorite scent at the moment is the seasonal Peony it smells SO good!) But just go in and spray them down and just clean them off really well with that Damp Cloth and they look so good and are so clean. Not only that but it makes the kitchen smell SO good. Don’t forget to clean your cabinets, promise they need it!

    2. Appliances.

The things you use the most, get super dirty. The fridge, dishwasher, microwave, stove, and even your coffee maker needs cleaning! They can collect dust, fingerprints, dirt, etc. Not only that but the inside of them also needs a really nice clean sometimes too! Now my favorite product for cleaning my stainless steel is definitely the Weimann's stainless steel cleaner but I’m also looking into trying out the Method kind because I love Method and Mrs. Meyers products! As for the inside, the microwave I heat a bowl of water and cut up lemons and just let the steam get to all the dirt and loosen it all up really well then I use Mrs. Meyers and wipe all that down really well. The fridge I just like to take everything out and wipe it down really well with the Method anti-bacterial spray. Oven I just like to use baking soda and vinegar, I’ll add a little of each into a bowl and stir until it turns into a paste then I’ll leave that in the oven on the door and the inside for about 30 minutes to an hour then just scrub it really well with a sponge and then go in and wipe it all down and out with a damp cloth. The results are amazing! The racks I just wash those in the sink with some dish soap and a regular sponge. The dishwasher, I like to just add some vinegar and let it run on its own and it comes out sparkling! As for my Keurig, I just clean the catcher at the bottom because it’s usually full of old coffee and water that dripped down there so I’ll dump it, rinse it, and dry it and add it back on there!

     3. Wall Art / Decor.

One of the easiest things you can forget to clean sometimes is most definitely your wall art and home decor. These collect a TON of dust so you definitely don’t want to forget to clean them at least once a week or once every two weeks. The thing I do is just grab my Swiffer duster and dust all of my art and wall decor really well with it. Then if it has glass or something that is stuck on it I just grab a damp cloth and gently try to clean it off until it comes off.

     4. Walls + Trim.

Have you ever actually just looked close up to your walls or your floor trim? Realize how dirty and dusty it is? So much dust and dirt accumulate there and so it’s a great idea at least once a month to grab your Mrs. Meyers, a damp cloth, and just go around your house scrubbing your trim. As for your walls, you can grab a microfiber cloth, your broom, and just dampen the cloth and wrap it around your broom (or Swiffer/microfiber or just wide mop will work anything long) and then secure it with a hair tie. Then just go around your house and clean the corners, the walls, trim and get all the dirt and gunk off your walls. You can also get all of those icky spider webs out of those corners too while you're doing this!

    5. Dishwasher

Now even though this is above I just wanted to go into more detail on its own section because the appliances can be a tackle to clean and easy to “forget” at times. All you need is some vinegar, just add that to your rinse aid cup in your dishwasher (this can also be used for a rinse aid on dishes as well) but just let that run on its own and when you come back, it’ll be sparkling clean! No more gross, stinking dishwasher!

  6. Fridge.

A fridge is a place that rarely gets tackled. It’s often “forgotten” about because it can be a complete cluttered mess at times. The best thing to do though is to go ahead and get it over with. What I like to do is use the Weimann's stainless steel cleaner on the outside. As for the inside, I like to clear out everything and go through it all. Throw out what’s expired and keep what’s still good. Then grab a damp cloth and spray it down with the Method anti-bacterial spray and just wipe down everything inside, the shelves, doors, etc. Then just put everything back inside organized and neat.

  7. Trash Can.

The thing that gets the dirtiest, the quickest… this one actually is forgotten about easily and can be pretty gross to clean. The one thing I recommend is just spraying it completely down with the Method anti-bacterial spray and then just letting that sit for about 15 or 10 minutes, then going back and just wiping it down really well with either a damp cloth or a paper towel and just really giving it a good clean. Plus, it’ll keep your home from smelling like trash.

  8. Oven.

The oven we don’t forget, it’s just annoying to clean, like period. But this hack I have makes it pretty simple and easy. All you have to do is get some baking soda and vinegar, add it into a bowl little parts at a time and SLOWLY and stir until it turns into a paste. Then just apply that all inside of the oven and let that sit for 30 minutes to an hour even longer if you want. While waiting, clean your racks in the sink or tub with just some dish soap and warm water or you can let them soak in the tub with some baking soda and a little vinegar and scrub them as well. After you’ve waited go in and scrub off all of the gunk that was stuck in your oven and then just wipe it all out with a damp cloth. Now it’s sparkling clean! Dry off your racks and add them back in! If you have a hard time getting spots off the oven, add a little more vinegar and baking soda and a little elbow grease and it should come right off.

  9. Tub/Shower

So for this one, I love to use the Method shower cleaner. It does the job so well. All you have to do is literally just spray it down, scrub it a little tiny bit, and rinse it out. This one is an easy one to forget because we actually don’t realize how gross and dirty our tub or shower gets until we remember to clean them.

 10. Window Sills

This ones pretty easy to forget because we always think, surfaces and windows but never really the window sills. This is where dust and dirt and sometimes dead critters end up. So it’s always a good idea to clean these every now and then at least. Normally I just like to use my Mrs. Meyers and a cloth and just wipe them down really well and get all of the dust, dirt, and gunk off of them.

 11. Mirrors and Windows

When all we worry about is surfaces and floors, sometimes we forget about the windows and mirrors and glass surfaces. Dust can collect on these so much it is unreal so just go in with the Method glass cleaner, I recommend to anyways, and wipe those down really well. Now there’s no more dust sitting up on them!

 12. Electronics

The one thing we never think to clean, our electronics. From the laptops, computers, tablets, TV’s all collecting dust of course there’s going to be dust everywhere! Just grab some glass cleaner, I use Method, and a microfiber cloth and wipe all of them down really well. Sparkling clean!
