Fun Outdoor Ideas To Try With Your Kids This Summer #CP

Tags: kid bike children

Outdoor play is important for Children. It’s fun, it gets them active and it helps them get some fresh air. Outdoor playtime is also a brilliant opportunity for you to get involved too and have some fun with your kids. Summer is fast approaching, and keeping your kids entertained during the summer break can be hard. If you’re already worried about running out of ideas, try some of these!

Go Rollerskating

If you have some nice smooth pavements near you, or a skatepark, then rollerskating can be a lot of fun. Skating can be a challenging workout for both you and your kids to help both of you be more active and get fitter, and it’s also great for improving your child’s balance and motor skills.

They’ll think it’s hilarious if you aren’t very good at it, so don’t worry if you’re not going to be joining your local Roller Derby team any time soon. Make sure you both have the right equipment though, such as knee and elbow pads, to protect you if you fall. Get the right skates too and learn the difference between recreational and freestyle urban skates

Go Cycling

Cycling is good exercise for all ages, and can be a really fun way to explore more of your neighborhood. Look for local Bike trails so you can cycle together safely, well away from road traffic. Riding a bike can be practical too. Do errands together on your bikes instead of taking the car, or even do the school run on a bike. Children often really enjoy riding a bike, and if you’re interested in green transport, this can be a good opportunity to start talking about this with your children.

Work In The Garden

Even if you aren’t very green-fingered yourself, you can still have fun working in the garden together. Depending on the age of your children, you could give them a section of the garden, a flowerbed, or a flowerpot to call their own and decide what they would like to plant. Choose easy to grow, colorful options like bright flowers. Growing fruit and vegetables is a good choice too. It’s incredibly satisfying to eat something that you grew yourself and can be a great chance to teach your kids about different foods, where food comes from, and how to care for nature. It might also encourage them to try some new foods.

Play Ball Games

You can play any ball game that appeals to you, whether you play catch, shoot hoops, or play soccer. All you need is a ball and a little space in the backyard or at the local park. Your children work on their motor skills, you can spend time with them, and both of you get to be active outdoors. If you enjoy playing a particular game together, this could also grow into a shared interest for a sport you can watch together too, whether you watch Basketball games on TV or start going to local football games.
