Mike Tyson Says Unauthorized Hulu Series ‘Stole’ His Life: “To Them I’m Just a N****r on the Auction Block”

Legendary boxer Mike Tyson isn’t afraid to show off his fighting skills in- and outside of the ring.

The 56-year-old, reportedly hard at work creating his biographical film (in which Academy Award winner Jamie Foxx will assume the leading role), is doubling down on slamming Hulu for creating a biographical mini-series without his blessing.

At the time of the streamer’s announcement (February 2021), Tyson released a lengthy statement to voice disapproval.

“[The announcement of this series] on the heels of social disparities in our country is a prime example of how Hulu’s corporate greed led to this tone-deaf cultural misappropriation of my life story. To make this announcement during Black History Month only confirms Hulu’s concern for dollars over respect for Black story rights,” his statement read. “Hollywood needs to be more sensitive to Black experiences especially after all that has transpired in 2020. My authorized story is in development…”

This week, he reiterated the sentiment.  Look inside to see what he said.

As seen via the post above, Mike didn’t hold back on Instagram when weighing in on the upcoming eight-episode series set to explore the ups and downs of his highly publicized boxing career and volatile personal life.

“Don’t let Hulu fool you,” Tyson wrote in a statement shared on Instagram. “I don’t support their story about my life. It’s not 1822. It’s 2022. They stole my life story and didn’t pay me.”

He didn’t stop there.

“To Hulu executives I’m just a n****r they can sell on the auction block,” he continued, captioning the post, “Hulu is the streaming version of the slave master. They stole my story and didn’t pay me.”

At writing, execs from the streaming giant have not responded to Tyson’s latest statement.

The heavily-teased limited series, which casts ‘Moonlight’ star Trevante Rhodes as the titular character, is set to land on Hulu  August 25 and includes a cast of familiar faces like Russell Hornsby, Harvey Keitel, Laura Harrier, Li Eubanks, Olunike Adeliyi, and B.J. Minor.
