After failing to find a nearby dealer with a Cool Wind plastic euphonium in stock to see and play, my curiosity finally got the best of me, and I ordered one to play with a bit and then probably resell at a loss. I was able to get a 10% discount and free shipping, so those factors help make the deal work for me. And it turns out as I expected. Though there are enough good things about the Horn to make me want to keep it, considerations of space and money prompt me to try to find it a permanent home. I can return it up until early March, but the seller was very helpful and gracious to me, so I'd rather let the sale stick and see if I can find a buyer for it.
I discuss the characteristics of the horn at great length in the "Euphonium Brands" forum: http://www.dwerden.com/forum/showthr...m#.Wn08Pq6nHb0
I'm looking for $375 plus any shipping that may be involved, which I would expect to cost around $30 via USPS. Street price for this horn is $450. The horn has been played for less than an hour, and no damage of any kind is present. Shipping will be in the original carton, which is well designed for secure handling. For anyone thinking of local pickup, I'm in upstate South Carolina.
Here are some pix. The final one serves a dual purpose: it documents the recentness of the purchase (click to enlarge), and I used the interestingly formed valve (discussed in the forum thread linked above) to obscure my personal information printed on the receipt.
