Spotify’s New Feature Aims To Highlight Song Contributors

As Spotify keeps growing, it continues to add more services and perks for its users. It’s latest addition is the inclusion of Songwriter Pages that aim to give listeners a better look at the creators behind their favorite songs.

Still in Beta testing, this new offering allows users to see who has worked on specific tracks, and provides passages to other works that such artists have had a hand in. So far, the streaming service has roped in hit writers including Meghan Trainor, Fraser T Smith (Adele, Sam Smith), Missy Elliott, Teddy Geiger (One Direction, Shawn Mendes, 5 Seconds of Summer), Ben Billions (The Weeknd, Beyoncé) and Justin Tranter (Selena Gomez, Camila Cabello, Imagine Dragons), who have all made their new songwriter pages available for Music fans to view.

The move was made in response to a 60% increase in the crediting of songwriters by labels and distributors when uploading new music since Spotify began displaying song credits in 2018. Now users simply have to right-click on a track, hit “song credits” and select a clickable songwriter’s name to access a new world of information.
