After losing its main investor, getting kicked out of its original venue and artists dropping out left and right, the decision to cancel the highly-anticipated Woodstock 50th anniversary festival was finally made less than a month before it was originally set to happen. Many people have been left severely disappointed, but there is still something to look forward to.
In celebration of the momentous occasion, Philadelphia’s WXPN 88.5 FM public radio will be airing the completely uncut audio of the original 1969 Woodstock from start to finish at the exact time it actually occurred, beginning at 5:07 p.m. EST on Thursday, August 15th. All 32 artist performances including Jimi Hendrix, Arlo Guthrie, Joan Baez and Carlos Santana will be aired.
For those not in the Philly area, fans can still tune in via the WXPN website. Just as the real Woodstock did, the broadcast will end on August 18th.
