Kendrick Lamar and The Weeknd have dropped their new song “Pray For Me,” the closing track from the forthcoming Black Panther soundtrack.
It’s the first appearance they’ve made together since their hot collab on Starboy‘s “Sidewalks.” The Black Panther soundtrack, which was curated by Lamar and Top Dawg Entertainment, will also feature contributions from the likes of SZA, Vince Staples, Future, James Blake, Swae Lee, Anderson .Paak and more.
The song definitely sounds like it was made for the movie, as it doesn’t possess a spotlight on the Starboy’s voice or his signature bite that he adds to his own creations. Nonetheless, it will fit in with the movie; “Pray For Me” just isn’t the pinnacle of what The Weeknd is truly capable of.
Give it a listen and see if you agree.
