Last night, a closely watched Alabama election for Jeff Sessions’ vacated Senate seat came to a close when Democrat Doug Jones won over Republican Roy Moore.
Moore faced multiple allegations of sexual misconduct with minors; President Donald Trump repeatedly endorsed Moore. After his victory speech, something incredible and unexpected happen—Jones walked away from the podium to the tune of Cali Swag District’s 2010 club anthem “Teach Me How to Dougie.”
Pink, Jack Antonoff, John Legend, Fifth Harmony’s Lauren Jauregui and many more rejoiced in the outcome and applauded the winner Jones, whose name immediately started trending on social media.
“Congratulations Alabama. One small step in the right direction for all of us. Our voices are being heard,” wrote Pink, while Alyssa Milano, the actress who helped ignite the #MeToo movement, tweeted: “Thank you for restoring my faith in humanity, Alabama. And thank you for fighting for what’s right.”
