Miley Cyrus appeared on The Ellen DeGeneres Show this week and got incredibly emotional when the discussion turned to Hurricane Harvey, which has now taken the lives of over 46 people.
During the segment DeGeneres told the audience of the ‘Younger Now’ singer generous donation of $500,000 to the relief of the deadly hurricane. Cyrus emotionally replied, ‘Don’t make me cry,’ before bursting into tears.
“I can’t really talk about it, I don’t know why it makes me so upset. It just really makes me upset so I really hope people know…I couldn’t fake it,” she said to DeGeneres, explaining her emotions were very raw and real.
“My grandma’s here, my mom is here, and I go home to my seven dogs. If I didn’t have that anymore, it would be really hard. I’m really happy to help in any way I can. I hope people understand and can put themselves in those people’s shoes and know what it feels like to have everything taken away from you.”
With the help of her non-profit Happy Hippie foundation, the soon-to-be-married star revealed she’s happy she can use her celebrity status to help those in need and raise awareness of their plight.
