Maroon 5 and frontman Adam Levine performed their brooding new single “Cold” on Tuesday’s Tonight Show. In line with the song’s theme, the group was illuminated by deep blue lighting, with Levine unleashing his silky falsetto over James Valentine’s palm-muted guitar. Side note: Future was no where to be found.
In the sit-down portion of the show, Levine told host Jimmy Fallon about his new business venture with Sammy Hagar, a tequila-mezcal hybrid called Santo Mezquila. “[Hagar] came into my life at a really funny time,” he said. “I was actually on my honeymoon in Cabo. We actually wound up hanging out, drinking a little bit of tequila, talking and instantly hitting it off and becoming really good friends.”
The Voice coach also had fun hating on co-coach Blake Shelton. He lacks very base-level intelligence,” Levine said before making fun of Shelton’s aggressive pronunciation of “white.” “He’s a simple, country person, which is great, but he’s also stupid,” Adam said.
