Rihanna may collab with some the biggest names in the music industry, but for her latest small screen gig, she’s apparently teaming up with a team of underground cult faves.
According to a new report from Variety, Amazon has acquired the distribution rights to the musical drama Annette, in which Rihanna with star in with Girls’s Adam Driver.
The plot centers around a widowed standup comedian and his young daughter, who shows a surprising gift. The film has been rumored to start shooting this spring and is said to span across several international locations.
Rolling Stone confirms that it’s currently unknown which characters Rihanna and Adam will play. What is known, however, is that the musical was written by French director Leos Carax, who is known for “cult favorites” Holy Motors and Lovers On the Bridge.

Though the role seems like an understandable match for Driver, it seems like a bit of a departure from Rihanna’s norm. But as an artist, she shouldn’t be underestimated, especially considering that this is yet another mark on her growing acting résumé. Rih previously appeared on Bates Motel, and has upcoming projects including Valerian and Ocean’s Eight.
