For those who don’t know, where are you from?

Sk8:  I’m from Omaha, Nebraska, and I moved to the West about two years ago. I’ve been doing music since the young age of 13 and it started with Hip-Hop, which then lead to great opportunities. Along the road, I got blessed with a nice Social Media following and fans that I’ve been very thankful for.

How do you think growing up in Nebraska influenced your music?

Sk8: Moving to Los Angeles was a whole new experience for me but being from Nebraska, it’s what kept me humble, motivated and wanting to more. However, when I was younger, I always knew I wanted to move to L.A. only because there was really nothing much to do in Omaha and I wanted to do something with my career.

Talk to us a little bit more about your new project, Late 2 The Party and are there any tracks from the album that stand out to you personally?

Sk8: Late 2 The Party has a couple of meanings. The first one gears more towards the industry and how many people are just late joining our this new movement that we have and what we’ve been doing. The second meaning is clearly the swag that we’re on; always being late and cursing 2-3 hours after parties start.

As for my favorite tracks I would have to say “Cool Kids,” I really like the meaning behind it and how it relates to younger kids. “OTP” too, that’s a smooth track as well.

What’s the process like when it comes to making new music or creating a concept of a video?

Sk8: As far as music wise, this project was definitely a bit more different for me. I didn’t have a notepad or anything like that I just went into the booth and started spiting bar for bar. As far as for videos, there’s a couple of things that go into that. It all depends on what people send me and what I look over. Other times, I decide on my own and in most situations, the video and the concept of the song won’t necessarly go hand on hand but it looks cool and that’s what I like.

In the near future, who would you like to collaborate with?

Sk8: *Shoot* that’s a really good question. I’ve always been focused on my music but if I could collaborate with anyone… there’s so many artists man. Definitely Drake and Wiz Khalifa. I also love J Cole, I love what he’s about. I think he’s such a real dude. Travis $cott, Migos and I like Kehlani too, I like what she stands for and what’s she’s been doing. Rihanna, I’d love to collaborate with her in the future, I know we can make some really cool sh*t.

Last but not least, what’s next for Sk8? What would you like to accomplish in the new year?

Sk8: We haven’t really caught a major buzz but it’s coming. We have some really great things in the making and like many people on my social media say “Yo Sk8, you’re like the biggest rapper nobody knows about” so be on the lookout for a lot more!

To stay connected with Sk8 and be sure to follow him on all his social media platforms.
