Playing the Barre Chord Game on “Cheat” Mode

As a kid, I had the game Super Mario Bros on the original Nintendo.

I loved the game and playing Nintendo was my first love (before football and then the guitar).

The problem was my mom, dad, and sister would hog the console.

I could never play the game as they were all addicted to it, and I was the youngest, so even though I kicked up a fuss, I wouldn’t get much of a look in.

A few years ago, I bought the modern version of the NES for Archie and me, and I aim to finally complete the game!

…But because I don’t get much time to play it, I’ve been using a simple cheat code to win at the game where you get unlimited lives.

The way I see it, there’s not a lot wrong with this.

Once I complete it with the cheat mode, I’ll do it the “proper” way without a cheat mode.

So how does this relate to the guitar you may ask?

Well, it does in many ways, including the almighty barre chords.

You see, most people try to master barre chords on hard mode.

…but why do that when there’s an easier way?

While you can’t cheat your way to barre chord success, you can definitely cut back on the pain, frustration, and wasted energy.

In one of the new Dan Thorpe Acoustic Academy lessons for October, I show you nine ways how to do this.

…All put together into a fun 5-minute video workout.

P.S. To highlight the power of the 5-minute workouts I create for members, check out what Martin said about a recent one:

“I have been using this exercise as a warmup since you posted it and I have noticed so much improvement. It works on all levels – I have focused on the 3 Ps whilst doing it. All much improved, particularly pressure. Timing is better and musicality too. Combined with the big cycle as a warmup and I am ready to go! Great stuff!”
