Vegas, Baby, Vegas!

INXS / Lovehammers Tour: Las Vegas, NV - 1/28/06

My Las Vegas Concert recap originally posted at www.rockband.com

Ok, some folks have mentioned they don't want to 'bore' you with more of the same...me, I don't care:) This is what I have to say, and it is what I'm sayin' I'm not trying for funny, because it wasn't that type of concert for me...I'm not a great writer, so you can look to some of our more fabulous interpid posters for this, I just say what I like, because I want to, so here ya' go, like it, or not:)

*LIVE* from the Las Vegas Airport...just 2 days past the concert...

so: Las Vegas...

Yeah Baby!

It was Vegas, and it was BIG...the concert that is.

Yes you could tell JD was sick...esp during his in between song chatter.

Yes they performed the same set list less Disappear

Yes it's true not everybody stood the entire time...

But, that said you cannot diminish how awesome to behold INXS back performing to what looked like their largest crowd to date with JD...the energy was great, the music was rockin', INXS was having a great time, and so were we.

From a non fan's perspective:
Now I attended this concert with a friend of mine whom is NOT an INXS fan, pop/rock fan at all. Her only other concert has been to Mary J Blige (yes you heard me... :) and in the past was more likely to have attended a 50 cent concert than an INXS show...This said, she ranks this as the best concert experience of her life!(ok they only beat out MJB...but who's counting:) She could not believe the crowd, the energy, the bands awesome sound, and yes, the HOT lead singer!

Now I did do some prep, gave her a mixed cd of what I thought would be the most appealing songs in the back/current catalogue that would fit her general musical tastes. She was excited going into the concert. About half of the selections I had made were part of the set list, and a couple of others were popular in in our youth so familiarity breeds nostalgia, which in this case was a plus.

Overall, her impressions were ALL positive. This gave me great satisfaction...potentially another convert in our midst ? Now I know some folks are/were reticent to bring their non BSC friends and family, but I am saying here an now, don't be...these are good, no, great shows people...let folks join us in this love fest, it is only going to get better, and better.

My thoughts on the performance/show itself:
Well, as I said, the first bit suffered some, partially due to some sound difficulities, and clearly we all knew JD was sick...for non BSC's, all you had to do was listen to the hoarse banter during the breaks, so that was what it was...Honestly I could barely tell that some stuff was off...because in my head he was singing every word...yes I've been listening to the set list on my ipod on continuous loop so, I was singing along to every lyric, maybe this is why I was so caught up, I didn't dissect the sound quality over much...I was just so overcome with excitement...I mean we were in VEGAS, INXS...there really is nothing better, well unless I could have been front row...but that would have been greedy right? What am I saying, I would have killed been really thrilled to have had that chance, but am also so jealous happy for those of us that did have that chance, I had my time in Seattle, and I have to say, sitting w/the 'common folk' (j/k) in the crowd was it's own fun experience. I stood virtually the whole time...the gals behind me told me to keep standing so they could too:) LOL...

The BINXS, I'm sure were hot, but I was a bit too far away to do my hotness checklist/package check(LOL) but I am assuming all was in place! From all front section accounts, this was in fact the case...looked like Timmy was wearing the same pants...JD had changed it up a bit(I believe the buckle jacket is history?), as did GGB...all of that said, even from my vantage point, I could tell those guys were just loving being up there. And just because I can , I am going to talk about Taste IT...I was able to see HG's video, looked about same angle I saw it from in Seattle...I know I should melt, but I don't; that said, I am thrilled everyone loves it so, and the Batshit is hot stuff, so it is all good...I wouldn't kick him out of bed, and I wouldn't totally mind being that mic stand, so, whatevah! Sounds like the front row got a lot of love and it looked like OB was able to get to the audience more here in Vegas, believe it or not, than in Seattle. I think my favorite performances were Never Let You Go, Original Sin, Pretty Vegas, and Don't Change...probably because those are a couple of my favorite songs, so they have my bias...I know everyone loves NLYG better live, but I love it both ways, that said, the live version is just fantASStic, and I think OB still pulled it off, rough voice and all. Honestly I just love these guys, I could go to every concert and still want more. I know my comments are less personal/tongue in cheek than my comments from Seattle, but this concert, for me, was special, because it was mostly about the music, and INXS in concert, WHOLE...this is what made it beautiful for me, and this is why I am writting this more seriously, yet w/ likely as many words:)

My photo/video quest
I have to say I did manage to get all of my cameras in and used thank you very much...though I think you will get by far more and greater quality stuff from the folks up close (I'm looking at you, you front row BSC'ers!) I will share what I do have that came out half way decent...I took alot that came out nothing but fuzz, and I won't bother you with these, thank god. My pics were all taken from 106, row Q, on the aisle just across from 105, so all together awesome seats in a venue of this size. Note, JD wore the 'shot in the head butterfly explosion' tshirt for at least part of the show. I will be continuing to load pics here as I get a chance, the ones I already posted required no editing...or at least I haven't done any yet:) As I get home, I will go through and see if there are more that are postable.

Video quality...well the better video I have from concert, resolution wise, has no sound, and the stuff with sound is a bit fuzzy...I will see about getting some of it uploaded later, but others probably really out did me on this, so we will see.

Now, as I said in a previous post I did get alot of video and some pics of Deanna from the after party...She was awesome! and yes, I used that word way too much this evening...but oh well! I was able to meet her and share some mindless chatter early in the evening. And I told her how great she was after, and I'm not lying, she was much better than what I remembered from RS:I and I will definitely be buying here album when it comes out. And she's TINY...itty bitty thing, and very pretty.

The Lovehammers Well, I didn't catch the whole thing this time...I was out buying their CD, so I think peaches & co will 'forgive' me :) I did catch the last half of the set, and I see we got some of peaches sans shirt...boy oh boy is that boy white...overall, sound wise, they sounded about the same, and my thoughts re: their sound/quality, about the same as Seattle, so not going to say much more. They looked like they were having a good time, and that is good. Oh and I might have some pics, but we'll see quality later...

The rockbanders meet...
Ok, let me start off by saying I am a fairly reserved person with people I don't know. I generally find it difficult to approach folks that are unfamiliar to me. While this held true to this night, both at the pre/post concert gatherings, I have to say the rockbanders I was lucky enough to meet w/and share some friendly chat w/ were all super nice (could I be more of a geek:) Now, I know I didn't get to meet a some of my favority posters, and that is ok, I will just pretend like I know ya' all, and love you all the same. I already posted my thanks, etc to this group, so I will leave it at that. The after party was really nice. Cheryl, THANKS!, you could not have done a better job! And you are a total sweetheart! Deanna, as I already said was off the hook! I am going to email her my thanks personally. She was soooo much better than I remembered from RS:I(and I loved her on that show!), and seems to be an absolutely awesome person. Honestlly, my only regret from this night, was that I would have loved to meet each and every person there. I'm so glad everyone who was able to come to the show, etc did...for those of you who were not able, know that we missed ya', and I hope we all get to meet one of these days!

So, good on ya' BSC's, until the next concert leg for me...I CANNOT WAIT!!!
