Noel Gallagher Was Rejected By Big Music Name

Even the wannabe Beatles of the 90’s got rejected – and I know why. Many believe their music was interesting. Not I. The Brit pop rock grunge mod Band of the early nineties, so you thought they were an overnight success. That couldn’t be farther from the truth. Now wether or not they were dreaming and rehearsing their stardom at age five is another story, but their preparation and subsequent rejections did exist much like all the others.

According to Far Out Magazine, At one point, Factory Records was the only place to be for any band from Manchester – in the UK. In theory, Oasis would have been the perfect act for their talent pool, and Tony Wilson knew it. However, the exec still rejected the chance to secure their act.

When Wilson first became aware of Oasis, they were yet on the radar of Alan McGee, who later snapped them on to Creation Records. Despite having a clear run at signing the band to Factory, Wilson was unable to due to poor finances following vast expenses made on making the Happy Mondays album, Yes Please!

During the making of the album, Shaun Ryder was struggling with addiction issues. Therefore, Wilson felt it was appropriate to isolate the band on a remote Caribbean island to make the album. Foolishly, the location they sent the band to was rife with cocaine, which the Happy Mondays duly devoured. Goes to show. If you’re not mentally grown up, you can never handle any kind of success. Additionally, if that is how you handle success then you shouldn’t attempt to attain it in the first place.

The future of Factory Records depended on the success of Yes Please!, which cost more than the label ever expected. Unfortunately, they were left with no choice but to declare bankruptcy after the album only reached 14 on the UK Album Chart. Abysmal.

The fortunes of Factory and Oasis could have been a wildly different story. Wilson stumbled across the Gallagher brothers (with odd hairstyles) and who weren’t auditioning for the role of Harry Potter, when they played at “Enter In The City” in 1992. Wilson knew they were destined for greatness, but their paychecks were out of his reach.
