“The Band Is Breaking Up” is a consuming track from Frass Green, a band from Washington, D.C.. The initial mellow keys are accompanied by heart-tugging strings within 30 seconds, then seamlessly assuming a surf-pop bounce with reflective vocal harmonies. A chorus with pure emotion renders a striking grip, with a somber touch upon the “to find someone,” lyrical beginning. “The Band Is Breaking Up” shows a beautiful balance between string-laden balladry and retro-pop infection.

The track comes from the forthcoming EP Death of Pop, releasing on 5/29. Pursuing a theme that many can relate to, in how time often moves too fast to keep up, the EP shows an eclectic, melodic sound leading with aspects of surf-pop, garage-rock, and power-pop. Death of Pop follows up the act’s full group effort, last summer’s For You, comprised of songs recorded across Washington, D.C. apartments from late 2018 to early 2019.

All the proceeds from the upcoming EP’s Bandcamp pre-order (May 15 to May 29) are going to Thrive DC, an organization that provides for the homeless population in Washington, D.C..
