Alex Wiley is consistent with output, but his sound often varies between trippy and tough as nails.
Thankfully for my personal preference, “Red Pill” is the latter. While lots of rappers are making the wavy mood music Wiley consistently knocks out of the park, hearing the Chicago kid rip this sinister Beat from Mulatto Beats to shreds is much easier to tell apart from the competition and is probably way more appealing to those testing MC skills. Anyone who questioned Alex’s ability should get prepared to be blown away by this one, which finds him rapping ferociously, skipping the bullsh*t and chopping down anyone in his way.
Maybe the Save Money member had been overdosing on the overly positive album from his pal Chance and decided to dial up the heat to set himself apart. Fine by me.
