The Blinders recorded their freshly-out debut album ‘Columbia’ in a single month, attempting to recreate the live sound and frenetic vibe that their live shows are renowned for.
The Blinders’ switched-on, disruptive Music is heavily influenced by quotes – ‘L’État C’est Moi’ coming from the legend of Louis XIV’ declaration in 1655, political readings, and classic literature. The Doncaster band now residing in Manchester are already planning their next release, but a ‘Columbia Two’ is absolutely not on the cards.
We sat down in Leeds’ Jumbo Records after their in-store gig to discuss if live music is becoming even more of a privilege, what it’s like to see your face on a massive billboard in the street, and that all-important question – what would you Cover if you got an invite to the Radio 1 Live Lounge. It’s all below.
