These are some of the strongest lyrics in Rhett May’s title song from his new album “Creatures of the Night.†The album is truly the peak of May’s musical career so far. His most recent album “Fast Cars and Sitars†(2015) was incredibly well received but “Creatures of the Night†has surpassed the positive feedback received two years ago. Rhett May’s songwriting and musicality are truly some of the best in the industry today. In a review by Lance Wright at GasHouseRadio, “Creatures of the Night†is described as, “involving and inventive… and the songwriting is consistently tailored to just the right length and buttressed with top flight production values. Everything about Creatures of the Night smacks of a performer and songwriter who wants to make the best possible impression on listeners.â€
Wright goes on to talk about the individual songs in the album. He speaks highly of “Somebody’s Watching You,†“Latex Lady†and “Elixir of the Gods.†The latter has consistently been reviewed as a crowd favorite and does a fantastic job of incorporating the sitar and other exotic eastern instrumentation while still remaining accessible to listeners of all backgrounds. However, it is a refreshing and more unusual addition to the album.
