What first drew you into music?
It was mainly by passion ! First we started as Dj’s and then we got some interests in production.
Gary : I also followed some piano lessons for several years when I was younger
Your track “Ain’t Scared” is absolutely amazing! How did you achieve such a great signature sound in such a short time? Also, what is your creative process like?
Our signature come from our different influences. It’s a mixture between bass Music and urban vibes. Create his own signature needs a lot of work. It took several years to find our own.
About our creative process, nothing precious. We come with an idea in our studio, it could be some chords, a melody, a voice, … and when we get a good structure, we know where we are going. A song is never really finished … we like to put a song in standby for some weeks and then back to work on it with fresh ideas.
Going over your Soundcloud we can tell you love experimenting with new sounds. Can you tell us more about your studio setup and some of your favorite plugins/instruments?
In our studio, we only have a midi synth, a good acoustic treatement and a lot of inspirations …
About our favorite plugins, we like to work with Serum, Arturia, Omninisphere, Fabiflter, Izotope and some Ableton native audio effects.
Your music sounds very organic and authentic. Do you play any real-life instruments?
We like to record our voice and put some effects on it to use it as a synth ! But otherwise we don’t play real instruments, everything is digital !
What are your musical goals for the future?
We want to develop the Bass Music Community in our native country, Belgium and we want to become the ambassador of this community ! In 2020 we want to release a lot of musics and maybe get some international gigs. This year we are going to release 2-3 tracks per month. We can’t wait to show you our new stuff !
What are your goals for the coming months? Any upcoming projects we can get excited about?
Release as many new songs as possible ! Our first release of 2020 is « Money » coming on January 17 in collaboration with Madara, the second one is coming on the January 23, another one is coming on the February 14 and also on the February 21. As you can see, a lot of new tracks are coming so be sure to follow us on social media @wearecheeryo to not miss anything ! We are very excited about those new releases, 2020 will be a very important year for us (crossfinger) !
This year we also want to develop our side project Eight-O-Eight. Eight-O-Eight is a Bass Music concept created by us proposing some cool parties, radioshows, … The goal of this project is to develop the bass music community in Belgium. This year, we are organizing some bus parties (including one in Miami during music week) and an indoor festival. Feel free to follow eight-o-eight on social media @eightoeightbelgium for more info!
