Meet ABIGAIL

What first drew you into music?

I come from a very musical family, Music has always been apart of my upbringing. My auntmom worked on an album when I was in elementary while my uncle produced and engineered the album, that and watching her perform was a big part of my childhood.

Your track “Found” is absolutely amazing! How did you achieve such a great signature sound in such a short time? Also, what is your creative process like?

Thank you, it means a lot to me that what I put out is genuinely received. “Found” is a very special project for me. I had written “Found” while in a fragile mindset due to the passing of my dad in 2012 so both the emotion and words were effortless and vulnerable.

I wouldn’t necessarily say I have a specific creative process, each song has different energy and is worked on in different ways than others. I have a lot of random notes and voice notes in my phone with either an idea of a chorus, a line, or a harmony and I go from there.

Going over your Soundcloud we can tell you love experimenting with new sounds. Can you tell us more about your studio setup and some of your favorite plugins/instruments?

I co-own a studio with my aunt and uncles which gives me the capability to be as creative as I want to be. I’m always open to new sounds and getting out of my comfort zone, it’s exciting to me. I don’t really have any favorites either, I’ll try it all!

Your music sounds very organic and authentic. Do you play any real-life instruments?

I learned how to play the trombone in 7th grade and I play the guitar. I do sight read music but I prefer learning and playing by ear, it’s more of a challenge.

5What are your musical goals for the future?

I have quite a few, one of my biggest Musical Goals is to collect a few grammys under my belt and get into producing so that I can have that ability for when I’m searching for something specific as far as production.

What are your goals for the coming months? Any upcoming projects we can get excited about?

I struggle with staying consistent when releasing music, but I’m really focused on pushing myself. In the next few months I have a couple of solo projects that I’m really excited about, also being apart of “Thewrstkind” we have great sounds coming.
