Ensemble SuperMusique – “Les porteuses d’Ô” (2018)

“Les porteuses d’Ô” was released in January 23, 2018. Album was recorded by “Ensemble SuperMusique” and a group of interesting musicians – it’s Rémy Bélanger de Beauport, Isaiah Ceccarelli, Guido Del Fabbro, Jean Derome,  Bernard Falaise, Joane Hétu, Aaron Lumley, Cléo Palacio-Quintin, Jean René, Danielle Palardy Roger, Alexandre St-Onge, Scott Thomson and Ida Toninato. The compositions by Joane Hétu, Lisa Cay Miller and Danielle Palardy Roger were recorded here, in this album. These three composers are bright, inventive and talented composers of contemporary academical Music and academic avant-garde. Their musical language is very expressive, emotional, full of contrasts, different musical expressions, extended playing techniques and many other elements. Shocking musical experiments, innovative, unusual and spontaneous instrument combinations, colorful and original sound – all these elements form the main basement of their music. The composers have a tendency to use free and bright musical language, which is always switches from academic avant-garde, experimental music and free improvisations of experiemntal jazz. Composers often express their ideas not by traditional notation, but by drawings, words and other elements of graphic notation. This music very frequently can’t be described or wrote in traditional notation. Three composers have a masterful ability to combine together wide range of different music styles and genres – composers masterfully condense together expressionism, impressionism, post-impressionism, modernism, late romantism, eclectic and dramatic neoclassicism, various styles of modernism, experimental and electronic music, academic avant-garde and free improvisation. This wide range of different music styles, expressions and colorful playing techniques create innovative and evocative sound of the most part of these composers compositions. The music of the composers are somewhere between academic avant-garde and free improvisation – it also is usually written in graphic notation and other modern forms of notation.

This album music has modern and evocative sound. Album compositions are based on main elements of the composers composing and playing style – wide range of different music styles, eclectic and dramatic combinations, emotional and sudden stylistic waves, different moods and characters, colorful and bright instrumentation and many other elements. The compositions of this album are based on modern classical music, academic avant-garde, experimental music and various its styles, electronic music and other different music genres. All compositions have a solid basement which is contained of original, colorful and innovative instrumentation, bright and vibrant harmony, dynamic and constantly changing rhythmic, clear, bright, expressive and fascinating melodic section. The musicians play these compositions especially passionately, expressively and with masterful virtuosity. The main idea of this album compositions – to extract new and unusual timbres, find new and fascinating ways of playing, combine and use them together – all these things and creative experiments are the most important elements. Memorable and expressive melodies, fascinating and outstanding passages, virtuosic arpeggios, very loud, powerful and glamorous solos create active, dynamic and evocative sound. These elements are highly contrasting with absolutely different side of the album – peaceful and silent solos, soft melodies, abstract and spontaneous episodes with wide range of unusual timbres and weird noises. These two absolutely different sides are masterfully combined together – after loud, evocative and dramatic pieces there suddenly comes peaceful and silent solos, static and monotonic rhythmic, soft, elegic, nostalgic and lyric episodes, which are turn out to fascinating, vibrant and powerful culminations. This music has marvelous instrumentation which is contained by many different musical language elements. Traditional playing techniques, innovative and experimental methods and the other acoustic instruments instrumentation methods are gently combined together with electronic music elements. The elements of field recordings, computer devices sounds, sonic system experiments and many other electronic music playing techniques are organically and professionally used here, along with acoustic instruments. Birhgt and evocative musical language, original and modern composing styles, expressive, passionate and masterful playing, marvelous synthesis between different music styles, playing techniques, electronic and acoustic music – all these elements make an effort to interesting and original sound of this album.
