A Fusion Of Genres From NOËP With Debut EP 'Heads In The Clouds'

‘Heads in the Clouds’ is the excellent Debut EP from Estonian singer-songwriter and producer, NOËP. The 5-track EP has been released on the artist’s own label, Noep Music OÜ. His recent single, ‘New Heights’, is the opening track and it's an electro alt-pop Song, which begins with an acoustic guitar and NOËP's expressive vocals. It is quite a relaxing song where he reminisces about a lost love, as we all have at one point or another (“just a taste of what it could have been”). It is cleverly produced and, like the others on the EP, isn’t a song which could easily be pigeon-holed into a certain musical genre. NOËP is a genre-bending artist. He experiments with his sound and it is part of his appeal.
‘Offside’ is a track produced in collaboration with British House production duo Tough Love. NOËP's memorable vocals are accompanied by a bed of hypnotic bass-heavy house beats. ‘Cold Medicine’ and ‘Loved the Love’ also feature on the EP.
‘TV’ is the closing track and is clearly heavily R&B-influenced. Again, NOËP is experimenting with the type of sound he wants his listeners to hear. In this song, his topic matter is also quite different in the sense that he discusses pitfalls of fame. He does this through the medium of rap and he references Kendrick Lamar to strengthen the point he is making (“like Kendrick said, you better stay humble”).
NOËP has amassed over 14 million streams on Spotify since his debut single ‘Move’ was released in 2015. In his home country of Estonia, his headline shows have frequently been instant sell-out successes. ‘Heads in the Clouds’ is NOËP's most mature body of work thus far.
NOËP will be appearing at The Great Escape in Brighton next month.
