Music trio, Dashiki, who do a lovely blend of African beats meets European, have released a music video to go along with their single 'Forget You' (featuring Boy Matthews), which was released in 2017. Dashiki is a collective where singers, dancers, designers and video makers, of both European and African origins, collaborate with the DJ producer who is behind the whole idea and Dashiki is the anagram of the three members in the collective; David, Shif and Kimbo. In case you haven’t listened to 'Forget You', it is a particularly upbeat track that explores and displays Dashiki’s talent and influence with blending African-Euro sounds into one song. Despite how upbeat the track is, the topic is rather hard and represents a dilemma everyone faces in the sting of loving someone. This begs the question of which is better? Acknowledge the hurt that comes with love or choose to Forget it altogether.

The music video released for 'Forget You' provides a perfect visual example of why this is such a hard decision to make. Warmly shot on a sunny day at the beach, the video revolves around the central character seemingly going through heartache over a girl he loves, using a kind of device to physically delete her from his memory entirely. At some point, seeing the deletion of this woman from his life creating a type of void, the man regrets this decision and begins loading the memory of when he first meets this woman, which he ends up meeting for the first time…a second time…near the end of the video, which gives the story a happy ending. Personally, I love all of the visuals and a subtle theme of “trouble in paradise” with there being heartache on a sunny, warm beach. The visuals themselves produce a happy, summertime feeling, but it also relates to how impactful and confusing summer romances can be.
