It is time for something a little different, and the future is here. Recently, Skygge has released a new single called 'Magic Man' to coincide with their 'Hello World' Album release. Before I get into talking about how wonderful this album is in the electro-pop genre, let me state the most fascinating bit about SKYGGE that had me so intrigued to listen to their album. SKYGGE is the first of its kind to create music using AI systems. Artificial Intelligence. How? I don’t know, but I also don’t mind Skynet going live if amazing music will be the result of it. SKYGGE started off as a simple project, which then turned into a multi-artist, electro-pop album with a ton of merit for starting a new chapter in music. Every song on the 'Hello World' album has its own flow to match with each artist involved in its creation. Even with the differences, songs like 'Paper Skin,' 'Je Vais Te Manger,' and 'Cryyy' are all mildly paced for those chill nights when you just want something cool to listen to. I’ve listened to this album several times now without skipping through any of the tracks.
Speaking of tracks, 'Magic Man' does not fail to be just as weirdly unique. Faster in pace, 'Magic Man' is a fun track to get your ears on. My favourite part of this single is how odd the lyrics are. Some of the lyrics will raise eyebrows whereas other bits in the song feel almost poetic in nature, which makes me wonder if there is a deeper meaning behind the lyrics as a whole.
Apparently they are loosely inspired by Danish author Hans Christian Andersen’s ‘The Shadow’ and the lyrics of the songs were sometimes generated and sometimes written by artists. “We asked all the vocalists on the album to read the tale to find inspiration for their lyrics,” explained SKYGGE. While the album’s title ‘Hello World’ “is a reference to the first program a beginner writes when learning a new programming language. It made sense for these to be Artificial Intelligence’s first words in mainstream music.”
Whether you’re someone who analyzes music like I do or someone who wants to jam to some Artificial Intelligence, SKYGGE’s 'Hello World' album and new single, 'Magic Man,' is the next stop for you.
