Video of the Moment #2383: Rusangano Family

Rising rap trio Rusangano Family have a new video out for their current single. For this, the Limerick, Ireland group worked with Bob Gallagher, the director who has helmed Dublin post-punks Girl Band‘s visual presence. The RTE Choice Prize for 2016 Best album winners – MuRli, God Knows and mynameisjOhn – had this to say about the black and white presentation: “We wanted to do something special around the release, and knew that a strong visual aspect was important. James Kirwan kindly got on board and supplied some artwork. We reached out to our friend Bob Gallagher and asked if he would work with us on a video. Bob had some exciting ideas and decided to walk from Dublin to Limerick to chat to us about them.”

They say ‘I Know You Know’ “…is about how we all face various challenges in life, and our inability to speak about these issues. In one sense, it’s about opening up and engaging in conversation.” So it makes sense that Gallagher’s direction was to go and interview folks from Dublin to Limerick to source stars for the video that reflect the spectrum of people who are willing to be part of the dialogue of openness.
