Today we are going to describe a failure that affects several Renault models, in particular a failure related to the speed sensor connector (TDC).
The affected models are the following:
Clio, Clio II, Clio III
Megane, Megane II
Scénic, Scénic II
Laguna, Laguna II
Espace, Espace IV
Fitted with the following engines:
The symptoms that are produced in this incidence are as follows:
Engine does not start
Engine does not accelerate smoothly
Engine does not run smoothly at low engine speed
The reason for this anomaly is that the speed sensor (TDC) shows a contact fault in its connector.
- Code: DF005 or 335 - Engine Speed Sensor Circuit.
- Code: DF023 or 335 – Flywheel Signal Sensor Circuit.
- Code: DF088 or 0773 – Sequence Solenoid Valve Circuit "EVS5".
- Code: DF120 – Engine Speed Sensor Signal.
- Code: DF213 – Flywheel Signal Information Coherence.
The repair procedure consists in reading the fault codes of the engine control unit (ECU) using the diagnostic tool and erasing the recorded fault codes.
Having performed a second fault reading and noting the recurrence of a fault not mentioned in this bulletin, then it must be dealt with separately.
Once we confirm that there are no more fault codes recorded in the engine control unit (ECU) we will replace the speed sensor (TDC) and its connector with a modified version and we will reprogramme the unit with the corresponding up-to-date software.
For its correct replacement, there is a manufacturer’s modification kit in accordance with the car model:
Round Black: 82 00 673 203
Round Blue: 82 00 673 202
Square Black: 82 00 300 322
Specific square for the M9R engine: 82 00 652 822
NOTE: For the conversion of a round connector to a square one, respect the polarity of the lines:
A is equal to A or the line A is equal to 1
B is equal to B or the line B is equal to 1
