2018 Ford F-150 New Built Ford Tough Design
On top of everything else that’s new on the 2018 Ford F-150 – including new engine options, new safety and technology features and new towing and hauling capabilities – perhaps the most exciting update is its new Built Ford Tough design that takes the Built Ford Tough promise to new levels never before reached by a Ford truck. Now, the Ford F-150, along with the entire Ford F-Series lineup, has always been the focal point of the Built Ford Tough promise, but thanks to an all-new design and new features, the 2018 F-150 is tougher than ever. And it looks better than ever, too.

Explaining the Built Ford Tough Design of the 2018 Ford F-150
The Built Ford Tough design of the 2018 Ford F-150 starts with its billet-milled body. From there, the new Ford F-150 features a horizontal twin-bar grille used to exude strength, precision and muscularity while also emphasizing its width. There are also all-new C-clamp headlamps that wrap tightly to the grille while providing LED lighting and signature daytime running lamps, both of which underline the 2018 F-150’s segment-leading features. The slanting nose and fenders of the new F-150 also highlight the power and toughness of the new engine options. Looking at it from the side, the 2018 F-150 features signature F-Series cues like the drop-down in the front doors, while wheel openings and wheel and tire proportions are accentuated with large-diameter tires wrapping six all-new wheel designs ranging from 17 inches to 22 inches. In the rear, the 2018 Ford F-150 features a billet-milled treatment around the fenders, tail lamps and tailgate.
“F-150 needs to look solid, confident and capable. All design elements need to have individual as well as collective strength. We wanted to continue with the billet-milled style introduced in 2015 while visually making the truck look wide and planted.” – Sean Tant, Ford Design Manager, Truck Studio
