The Jaguar XKSS was displayed in pure flamboyance… but for us, the Porsche GT1 stole the show.
The mid-90s saw the return of International Sports Car racing in a new avatar, now called the FIA GT Championship.
This here is the road version of the GT1, aptly named Porsche 911 GT1 Strassenversion.
Only 20-road going examples ever created, this car at the Gooding and Company Amelia Island sale fetched $5,665,000.
Road-going (then) version of the legendary D-Type that won the Le Mans in 1955,56,57.
After Jaguar withdrew from racing, the company converted 25 D-types to the XKSS’… off which 16 survived the factory fire. This is one of the 16 original road-versions.
