Ask Motorcycles Buell XB Racer

We have watched Ask Motorcycles for some time now but when we first saw their Buell XB build we were amazed.  Being a Buell XB owner and lover, we had to cover this one.   Rad Yamamoto, who is the owner of Ask Motorcycles was invited to the Mooneyes show 2017 in which he took on his most ambitious build yet.  Deciding to think completely outside the box and redesign the Buell, he decided on a full fairing aluminum bodywork racer.  The result is the Ask Motorcycles Buell XB Racer.

A Buell XB has a very unique design which makes it very difficult sometimes for builders to get the lines right.  Well Rad was up to the challenge and nailed it.  Starting with the bodywork, which is all made by hand, Rad hit a few snags that the Buell design creates.  Using a Harley air-cooled V-twin, poses a cooling issue when adding full bodywork.  This cooling issue was conquered through amazing fabrication by adding cooling ducts to help with the air flow.  Also Buell has a thru frame intake system on the left hand side of all their bikes.  The double intake fines on the left side not only are for cooling but still utilize the stock intake setup.

Sticking to the tradition cafe racer style, Rad custom fabricated a a new sub-frame and aluminum tail section.  Position of the rider was slight changed from stock and a cool looking under-tail with air fins and an integrated tail light was hand built.  The seat pan and seat beautifully flow into the tank design that creates almost seamless look.

As for some of the performance and other upgrades, Rad once again went with top notch components.  In the rear, the OEM shock was replaced with a Nitron fully adjustable unit and a set of Aella rearsets were installed.  Additional, a custom handmade 2 into 1 exhaust was build to help the v-twin breathe better.  Up front, a set of clip ons were installed to give it that racer stance.  The stock gauge was ditched for a sweet Motogadget Motoscope Pro unit mounted on a carbon fiber dash panel.
